Minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad, Ramtane Lamamra, in his capacity as representative of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, participated today, Thursday, in the 32nd Summit of the African Peer Evaluation Mechanism, which took place via videoconference, according to a ministry statement.
The summit, which was held under the supervision of the President of Sierra Leone, Julius Maada Bio, as a prelude to the 36th symposium of heads of state and government of the African Union to be held on February 18 and 19, culminated in the ratification of several documents, including the annual report on the state of governance in Africa, according to the same source.
In his speech, Lamamra affirmed Algeria’s adherence to the objectives of the African structure of governance, stressing its contribution to promoting stability, development and prosperity for the African peoples.
In this regard, Lamamra explained that the African Peer Evaluation Mechanism, which celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, has achieved many successes that qualify it to play a key role in implementing the continental Agenda 2063.
In this context, the minister expressed President Tebboune’s satisfaction with the increasing voluntary accession of African countries to the African Mechanism for Peer Evaluation, which brings it closer to universality, as well as the progress indicated in the reports on Niger and Djibouti, the statement adds.
In conclusion, Lamamra renewed President Tebboune’s firm commitment to African unity and his strong will to give new impetus to Algeria’s contribution to achieving political stability and economic development in Africa, which are considered a guarantee of lasting peace and stability on the continent during this year in which he celebrates the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Organization of African Unity, which The African Union emerged from it, according to the ministry.
