Maulouji: Improving the legal status of preserving the intangible heritage is a bet of African countries – Al-Hiwar Al-Jazaeryia

Yesterday, at the Holiday Hotel in Algiers, the works of the continental workshop on “strengthening the capabilities of the national focal points of 44 African countries, in preparing periodic reports within the framework of the 2003 Convention for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Africa” were launched with the participation of experts from 44 African countries.

On the occasion, the Minister of Culture and Arts, Souria Moulouji, appreciated Algeria’s role in the African continent, and said in particular: “Algeria is an extraordinary friend of all African peoples, pleading for their advancement, renaissance and development in all fields.

Adding in the context: “Algeria has made every effort to accompany all the bets of the African continent in a world that is restless due to conflicts of various aspects and multi-objectives.”

Maulouji stated that the major challenges in the African continent remain as they were yesterday, and calls on all energies and experiences to confront them with the desired vigilance, wisdom and seriousness in approaching problematic issues in order to crystallize effective solutions that drive to achieve the aspirations of all African peoples, and to protect the essence of their civilizational, cultural and human existence.

In her speech, Maulouji emphasized the importance of this meeting, commenting: “In this context, we meet today as actors in the cultural renaissance of our brown continent in a workshop to strengthen capacities for the focal points of the African continent for the 2003 agreement. The Present and the Stakes of the Future We deeply hope that the meeting in Algeria will be a solid ground for a conscious start in drawing the necessary outputs that we all undertake for the desired goals of this meeting.

Maulouji considered that this meeting is an occasion to evaluate the public policies made in favor of the intangible cultural heritage, allowing all actors in this field, including organizations and experts, to consider in a scientific and participatory manner the state of heritage in our continent and to discuss together mechanisms for protecting, preserving and promoting intangible cultural heritage.

The same official considered that the wager of African countries today is to improve the legal status for safeguarding the intangible cultural heritage of the continent, to ensure its effective management, to ensure capacity and intervention at the global level, to allow it to focus on scientific research activities and expertise, to define and inventory heritage, and to strengthen capacities in the areas concerned with heritage. intangible resources, which will allow it to contribute significantly to achieving the strategic goals set by UNESCO.
