And the Minister highlighted, in a speech read on her behalf by the Advisor at the Ministry of Culture and Arts, Nabil Hajji, during the opening of the works of the International Forum on “Cinema and the Stakes of Citizenship” organized in Oran, that “the Ministry is working hard to achieve the vision set by the Algerian state regarding cinema and to engage with it in a path that guarantees the permanence of production.” And distribution and achieving an economic approach to the cultural product as a whole and to cinema in particular, in line with the government’s directives and in implementation of the instructions of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune.”
The ministry is currently, Ms. Moulouji adds, “taking care of the great cinematic heritage of Algeria through inventory, restoration and digitization, and it is also working with several bodies to retrieve the cinematic stock located in foreign laboratories in order to enhance our audiovisual memory and make the stock available to the public and a basic material for researchers.” .
The minister noted “the great role of the university in the field of opening up to the fields of cinema and working on topics and forms with scientific and practical approaches that accompany the transformations taking place in the film industry.”
She added, “Researchers and scholars in this aesthetic field have a role in raising various scientific questions about the national or international cinematic achievement, which remains a witness to humanity and the transformations it has experienced for decades.”
For his part, Jeddy Kaddour, Chairman of the Scientific Committee of the Forum, affirmed that “the concept of citizenship is a human act based on approaches to different generations’ cultures and their interactions. “.
Ibrahim Emimon, Head of the Arts Department at the Faculty of Arts and Letters at Oran-1 University, Ahmed Ben Bella, highlighted the great role that cinema plays as a cultural creative work, in addition to being an industrial process that uses material means to consolidate or harm people’s human values, “which necessitates Peoples who want to protect their values should control this industry and follow its technological development.”
This forum, organized over two days by the Laboratory of the Index of Revolutionary Films in the Algerian Cinema of the Faculty of Arts and Arts at the University of Oran-1 Ahmed Ben Bella, discusses methods of treating cinema as a field of knowledge that defines the inherited and acquired cultures of the issue of citizenship in its political, social and economic dimensions through its cinematic employment, with the participation of professors.
