Ministry of Culture: 781 million dinars to rehabilitate the system of securing protected cultural property – Al-Hiwar Algeria

Within the framework of implementing the commitments and instructions of the President of the Republic “Abdel Majid Tebboune” to protect the heritage and cultural property that our country abounds in, and in accordance with the endeavors made by the Ministry of Culture and Arts, under the supervision and generous follow-up of Minister Souria Moulouji regarding the development of an intervention program to address looting, excavation and illegal trading in cultural property. Allocated to the National Office for the management and exploitation of protected cultural property, and after submitting a set of proposals as well as a technical evaluation of the necessary investments to the Prime Minister, with the aim of rehabilitating the system for securing protected cultural property, which was prepared on the basis of reports prepared by the competent departments, so that it includes data aimed at achieving Technical cards related to the complete situation of securing and guarding protected cultural property, with identification of the shortcomings registered at the level of the current system of guarding, especially with regard to the number of guards and the means allocated for this (communication means, alarm and lighting systems and firefighting equipment) with the aim of rehabilitating the system of securing protected cultural property.
After examining these requests, the Prime Minister expressed his agreement to sponsor the additional amount of the state’s contribution during the years 2023 and 2024 (245 million DZD in 2023 and 243 million DZD in 2024), and therefore the state’s contribution to the Bureau will be estimated at 781 million DZD for the year 2023, instead of 536 One million DZD, and 1.024 million DZD for the year 2024.
This decision comes to support the gains that have been made by the cultural and artistic sector in Algeria, and while the Minister of Culture and Arts, Dr. “Souria Moulouji” expresses her deep appreciation and gratitude for this decision, she calls for the necessity of intensifying efforts between all sectors and associations, to adopt a comprehensive participatory approach to protect and preserve The national cultural heritage and its promotion, which is a priority for the sector, stressing its full support for everything that contributes to achieving this goal.
