Today, Tuesday, the Minister of the Interior, Local Communities and Urban Development, Brahim Mourad, in Algiers, praised the seriousness and professionalism of the civil protection apparatus and its readiness to ensure the smooth conduct of the activities of the African Championship for Local Players (CHAN), which is scheduled to be organized starting from January 13.
During his visit to the headquarters of the National Training and Intervention Unit in Casablanca, affiliated to the General Directorate of Civil Protection, to review the latest preparations within its operational preventive plan for the Chan competition, Mr. Murad praised the “seriousness and professionalism” of the Civil Protection Agency and its “constant readiness” to ensure the security of all demonstrations hosted by Algeria.
In the same context, he appreciated the arrangements and equipment that the General Directorate of Civil Protection put in place to ensure the proper conduct of the activities of this African championship, which will be held from January 13 to February 4, including securing stadiums, shelters and others at the level of the four concerned states, as well as standing on the latest arrangements and preparations within the framework of its preventive and operational work.
By the way, Mr. Mourad, in the presence of the Director General of Civil Protection, Colonel Boualem Bouglaf, listened to a presentation by the Director of Studies in charge of the Office of the Director General, Colonel Fouad Allawi, and the Sub-Director of Operational Planning, Major Kafous Merzak, about the operational preventive plan for the Shan competition. Its readiness on the ground, as the General Directorate of Civil Protection, in anticipation of this African sporting event, allocated a special practical preventive apparatus in order to ensure the proper conduct of its activities.
About 2048 aides enter the service of the cause
For this purpose, the General Directorate has recruited about 2048 intervention agents of various ranks, of whom 1720 are distributed across the four main stadiums (the “Nelson Mandela” stadium in Baraki in the capital, the “Miloud Hadfi” stadium in Oran, the “May 19” stadium in Annaba and the “Martyr Hamlawi” stadium in Constantine) distributed across the various parts of the stadium, along with 328 others distributed across various other facilities to carry out rapid intervention and take care of various urgent cases.
It will also install 07 advanced medical centers at the level of these stadiums to take care of the various cases registered by civil protection doctors, in addition to securing various training stadiums as well as hotels for the residence of the participating teams and their transportation, in addition to installing 04 mobile command centers near the stadiums to conduct interventions and transfer information to cells Follow-up at the local and central level.
In addition to the human potential, the General Directorate of Civil Protection provided 03 helicopters, 53 ambulances, 31 rescue trucks and 16 motorcycles for the initial intervention, in order to cover an effective operation and ensure the safety and security of the participants and supporters.
In the framework of standing on the latest preparations, several preventive visits were organized with the various preparation committees to all facilities and facilities receiving the public, which will host the sporting event at the level of 4 states, in order to determine the extent of application of safety measures and respect for preventive measures.
In another context, Mrad called on the national press to participate, along with the Civil Protection, in the process of raising awareness about the dangers of gas suffocation, expressing his condolences to the families of the victims of gas poisoning in each of the states of M’sila, Setif and Mostaganem.
