The Australian Fatwa Council officially announced that next Saturday will be the first day of Eid al-Fitr in Australia, due to astronomical calculations confirming that the crescent cannot be seen on Thursday evening, as stated in the text of the statement issued by the Council.
The International Astronomy Center had made it clear that seeing the crescent on Thursday is not possible with the naked eye from anywhere in the Arab and Islamic world, and that the holiday is expected to be on Saturday, April 22.
The International Astronomy Center excluded the countries that accept the testimony of those confirming the sighting of the crescent, and in which the feast is expected to fall on Friday.
For his part, the Saudi astronomer, Abdullah Al-Misnad, said, “When the month is complete (30 days) in the Umm Al-Qura calendar, we know in advance the time of the month’s entry and exit 100 percent, and we are certain that it is actually 30 days, because the astronomical calculation is definitive.”
And when the month is less than “29 days” in the Umm Al-Qura calendar, as in the current Ramadan, no one knows with certainty that the month will actually be 29 or 30 days, as the definitive astronomical calculations in the Umm Al-Qura calendar, which require the occurrence of conjugation to enter the month The birth of the crescent, and its setting shortly after sunset on the 29th of the month. These conditions do not necessarily mean that the month is incomplete, according to a tweet on his Twitter account.
In the event of a decrease in the month, the field visualization process is activated. If the crescent was seen, the astronomical calculation coincided with the legal vision, so the month would be deficient, according to the Saudi astronomer.
He pointed out that the crescent is on the horizon on the evening of Ramadan 29, and it will stay about 24 minutes after sunset, according to the Mecca horizon.
And if the crescent is not seen because of clouds, dust, or the like, then the month is legally complete, and it is 30 days, according to the Musnad.
Accordingly, no one can be 100 percent certain that the month of Ramadan will be 29 or 30 days, until the first minutes of sunset on the 29th of Ramadan, when the result of field vision reveals to us the date of the day of Eid, according to what the Saudi astronomy expert said.
