The Minister of Energy and Mines, Muhammad Arkab, spoke today, Thursday, at the headquarters of his ministerial department, with the Minister of Oil and Mineral Resources of the Syrian Arab Republic, Firas Hassan Kaddour, accompanied by a delegation from the Ministry of Oil and Mineral Resources and the Syrian Electricity Company.
The heads of the general managers of the Sonatrach, Sonelgaz and Algerian mines complexes attended this meeting, as well as executives from the Ministry of Energy and Mines and Sonatrach.
The talks focused on discussing ways to enhance and develop cooperation relations between the two countries in the field of energy and mines.
The ministers reviewed opportunities for cooperation and investment between the companies of the two countries at all stages of the value chain in the hydrocarbons sector, as well as ways and means of exchanging experiences and training between Sonatrach and Syrian companies in the hydrocarbons sector.
The two sides also discussed opportunities for cooperation and investment in the field of production, transmission and distribution of electricity, as well as maintenance, training and exchange of experiences between Sonelgaz and the Syrian Electricity Company.
The talks also made it possible to identify opportunities for cooperation in the field of marketing oil and petroleum products, as well as in the field of cooperation and exchange of experiences in the mining sector, especially the exploration and exploitation of mineral resources.
At the end of this meeting, the two ministers expressed “the common desire between the two countries to enhance their cooperation in many areas of common interest.”
They also expressed “their desire to continue the talks and meetings of the joint technical working teams in order to crystallize these projects on the ground, while exchanging experiences and training in these areas.”
As a reminder, during this visit, the Syrian Minister of Oil and Mineral Resources and his accompanying delegation will have meetings with officials of the Sonatrach, Sonelgaz and Algerian mines complexes, and will visit some energy facilities.
