Outcome.. Arresting 9 elements of support for terrorist groups and seizing quantities of Moroccan kif – Al-Hiwar Al-Jazairia

Units and detachments of People’s National Army carried out, from 15 to 22 March 2023, several operations, according to a statement by the Ministry of National Defense today, Wednesday.

Within the framework of the fight against terrorism, joint detachments of the People’s National Army arrested 9 elements supporting terrorist groups in separate operations in several provinces.

And within the framework of combating organized crime and continuing the relentless efforts aimed at confronting the scourge of drug trafficking. Combined detachments of the People’s National Army were stopped. In coordination with the various security services, during operations in the military districts, 39 drug dealers and attempts to bring in quantities of drugs across the border with Morocco were thwarted. It is estimated at two quintals 02 and 18 kilograms of treated kif, while 87,401 hallucinogenic tablets were seized.

In Tamanrasset, Bordj Badji Mokhtar, In Gazzam, Tindouf and Djanet, detachments of People’s National Army arrested 635 people and seized 23 vehicles, 205 generators, 137 hammers, 07 metal detectors and 11 tons of a mixture of gold and stone ore. In addition to quantities of explosives, detonating equipment and other equipment used in illegal gold exploration operations. While 14 other people were arrested, 06 hunting rifles, 4.5 quintals of tobacco, and 16 tons of foodstuffs destined for smuggling and speculation were seized. This is during sporadic operations across the national territory.

Border guards, in coordination with the National Gendarmerie, thwarted attempts to smuggle large quantities of fuel, estimated at 98,689 liters, in Bordj Badji Mokhtar, Souk Ahras, El Tarf, and Tebessa.

On the other hand, the coast guards thwarted illegal immigration attempts on our national coasts and rescued 132 people on board traditional-made boats. Meanwhile, 220 illegal immigrants of different nationalities were arrested across the national territory.
