Yesterday, Thursday, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah in Saudi Arabia officially announced the availability of early registration for pilgrims, and for the first time a woman was allowed to register for Hajj without the presence of her Mahram. The ministry stated that women can perform Hajj without a mahram, and within a group of women.

And on its official account on “Twitter”, the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah revealed the availability of early registration for pilgrims from within the Kingdom through the “Nusk” application, for those wishing to perform the rituals of Hajj for the current year (1444 AH), pointing to allowing women to register for Hajj without a Mahram, as the controls included that Excluded from the condition of priority forbidden to women.

According to the conditions published by the Ministry, the minimum age for registration to perform Hajj this year will be 12 years, with priority for registration for those who have not previously performed Hajj, in addition to having a “national identity” for citizens or a “resident identity” for residents of the Kingdom, valid until the end of the month of Dhul-Hijjah. 1444 AH.

The decision of the Saudi Ministry sparked controversy on social media, whose pioneers began to ask whether it is legally permissible for a woman to perform the Hajj without a mahram, as tweeters circulated many fatwas stating that a woman’s pilgrimage is not permissible without her mahram.

This comes after Saudi Arabia announced earlier that women were allowed to perform Umrah without a mahram. The mechanism announced by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah included registration via the link and the electronic path for domestic pilgrims, taking into account the following conditions: “The age groups must be from 18 to 65 years, and it is required Immunization in its three types (vaccinated – immunized one dose – immunized recovering), and freedom from chronic diseases.

The Ministry allowed registration for residents from within the Kingdom and Saudi citizens who had not previously performed Hajj during the last 5 years.
