On the sidelines of his participation today in the ministerial meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement, in Baku, the capital of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad, Ahmed Ataf, held bilateral meetings with several of his counterparts participating in the work of this meeting.
In this context, Mr. Ahmed Ataf met with his counterpart from the Republic of Turkey, Hakan Fidan, where the two parties praised the distinguished and unprecedented level achieved by the relations of economic cooperation and political dialogue between the two countries under the auspices of Presidents Abdelmadjid Tebboune and his brother Recep Tayyip Erdogan. They also reviewed developments in the situation at the regional level, especially those related to the issue of Western Sahara and the crisis in Libya.
The head of the Algerian diplomacy also spoke with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Sergey Allink, and discussed with him ways to give new dynamism to the bilateral relations between the two countries, according to a practical plan that includes the activation of bilateral mechanisms and the promotion of economic exchanges and political consultation.
On the other hand, Ahmed Ataf met with his counterpart from the Republic of Nicaragua, Denis Moncada Colenderes, where the latter confirmed his country’s decision to open an embassy in Algeria in order to give a strong impetus to the historical relations between the two countries.
Finally, Minister Ahmed Ataf held talks with his counterpart from the sisterly Syrian Arab Republic, Faisal Al-Miqdad. The talks between the two parties focused on preparing for the upcoming bilateral events, especially the Algerian-Syrian joint committee.
