Within the framework of Algeria’s presidency of the work of the 59th session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Health, represented by the Minister of Health, Abdelhak Saihi participated, today, Saturday, at the headquarters of the Arab League delegation in Geneva, in the work of the executive office of the Council of Arab Ministers of Health.
The Minister started his speech before Dr. Haifa Abu Ghazaleh, Assistant Secretary-General, Head of the Social Affairs Sector of the League of Arab States, His Excellency Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Health and Population of the sisterly Arab Republic of Egypt, Head of the Executive Office of the Council of Arab Ministers of Health, Ministers from Members of the Executive Office, the Minister started his speech by welcoming the attendees at the opening of the work of the Executive Office of the Council of Arab Ministers of Health in this session that is held on the sidelines of the work of the (76th) session of the General Assembly of the World Health Organization, in Geneva, to discuss the recommendations emanating from the Technical Advisory Committee of the Council, which fall within the framework of Consolidation and deepening of joint Arab cooperation in the health field.
The Minister also expressed his thanks and appreciation to the honorable attendees of “their Excellencies and Highnesses, and His Excellency the Assistant Secretary-General, Her Excellency Ambassador Haifa Abu Ghazaleh, the delegation of the General Secretariat from the Department of Health and Humanitarian Aid, and the Technical Secretariat of the Council for their continuous efforts to make the work of the Council of Arab Ministers of Health a success.”
During his opening speech, the Minister affirmed, “The agenda items for the esteemed Council session will be discussed during the session with the active participation of the members of the Bureau. As usual, it will result in adequate and useful discussions and valuable recommendations that reflect our common commitment to achieving positive change, in light of the great challenges facing our dear Arab country.” We must work in close cooperation and coordination to achieve the required progress.” He added that the effective and constructive participation of the members of the Executive Office in this meeting will play a decisive role in achieving our common goals and improving the health situation in our Arab region, especially since many points will be discussed in this session. Among them are the health conditions in the occupied Palestinian territories, the unified speech of the Council of Arab Ministers of Health before the Seventy-sixth World Health Assembly, the Arab strategy for a health-friendly budget, the distinctive pink portfolio initiative related to the prevention of breast cancer, improving the health of mothers and adolescents in the Arab region and Other points that urge the importance and necessity of praising the joint Arab action as an important tributary of the tributaries of this nation, which had to benefit from the lessons learned as well as the obstacles and obstacles that befell our countries, especially with the crises and pests.
In the same context, the minister stated that “the most important points that will be discussed are the new line-up of our esteemed executive office. During the work of this meeting, the new line-up will be discussed, which we wish from this platform to pay and success in service to our Arab nation.”
From the same rostrum, the minister praised and praised the honorable Arab gift to hold an emergency meeting of the Council of Arab Ministers of Health on the 1st of May, through the tele-lecture technique, in order to discuss the health and humanitarian conditions in the sisterly Republic of Sudan.
In the same context, the minister indicated the necessity of “reviewing the achievements that have been made and dealing with emerging challenges, as we must all adopt common strategies that reflect the needs of the region and enhance our ability to address future challenges.” We should also discuss ways to enhance cooperation between member states, and promote training and professional development, in a manner that is based on the logic of reunion and sharing of knowledge and knowledge.
At the end of his speech, the Minister expressed his hope for the success of the work of this session, and thanked all those present and contributors to its convening.
