Professor Noureddine Yassa, Governor of Renewable Energies and Energy Efficiency, revealed today, Wednesday, that Algeria is on the verge of a large investment in renewable energies, referring to efforts and projects to intensify the exploitation of solar energy, green hydrogen and methane gas.
Yasaa highlighted on the waves of the first national radio that the coming period will witness a great activity in Algeria to install solar panels, in a way that extends to include the levels of digitization and innovation, and continued: “Algeria is heading to intensify manufacturing in solar panels and other renewable energies.”
The first guest mentioned that there are mechanisms to increase production, diversify energy sources, and rationalize consumption to provide volumes of natural gas for export starting this year, pointing to the possibility of creating small and medium enterprises, especially after the unprecedented decision that included stimulating researchers to integrate into the economic dynamism, citing the model of China, which Become an innovative country and the largest exporter of solar panels, which is what Algeria aspires to.
The first guest said: “We carried out, together with the local groups, model projects in terms of smart energy consumption.” After Algeria produced 440 megawatts of renewable energies, Yasa focused on accelerating this pace and converting the electricity produced from renewable energies into green hydrogen gas, relying on Agreements with Italian and German dealers.
The Governor of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency stated that a team is currently working on adapting a legal text in the field of energy production and transport, in conjunction with working on training cadres in the field of green hydrogen and its derivatives, in addition to pilot projects with a production capacity of fifty megawatts.
In addition to appreciating the political will of the President of the Republic; Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, for the production of 15,000 megawatts of renewable energies in the horizons of 2030, referred to financing formulas involving private and foreign dealers to achieve the goal.
Yasaa referred to a scheme for the valorization of waste for the purpose of producing biomethane gas, but that remains contingent on the preparation of a legislative text. On the other hand, the speaker pointed out that Algerian universities graduate a large number of renewable energies researchers every year, and the Ministry of Energy’s interest in defining a legislative reference that guarantees the investment of electricity surpluses and activating the path of energy transition.
Yasa ended by praising the capabilities of Algeria, which has the most ancient center for renewable energies in North Africa, at a time when Algeria’s interest in diversifying energy sources and intensifying investments outside hydrocarbons is growing.
