President Tebboune inaugurates a memorial to the founder of the Algerian state, Emir Abdelkader – Al-Hiwar Al-Jazaeryia

Today, Wednesday, President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune inaugurated, in the Russian capital, Moscow, a memorial to the founder of the Algerian state, Emir Abdelkader.

And he wrote on the monument, “Prince Abd al-Qadir al-Jaza’iri Square (1808-1883), a national hero and founder of the modern Algerian state, a knight of the Russian White Order of Victory, for his role in protecting the members of the Russian Consulate in Damascus in 1860, inaugurated in June 2023.”

This new memorial landmark is the first of its kind in Russia that glorifies an Islamic and Arab figure. This is in appreciation of the contributions and role of the founder of the Algerian state in spreading the values ​​of tolerance, interfaith dialogue and the principles of humanity.

Today, Wednesday, the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, will continue his visit, which he started yesterday, Tuesday, to the Russian Federation for a period of three days. At the invitation of his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin.

President Tebboune also oversaw the inauguration of the Algerian-Russian Business Forum. This meeting aims to enhance partnership, cooperation and investment opportunities in order to give a strong impetus to the economic relations between the two countries.

President Tebboune is also expected to visit the State Duma and the Council of the Russian Federation.

President Tebboune will also meet with representatives of the national community in Russia. This is within the framework of his keenness to communicate with the national community abroad and listen to their concerns.
