Russian President Vladimir Putin thanked the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, for the mediation efforts to settle the Russian-Ukrainian crisis.
Putin also thanked President Tebboune for attending the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, which he considered to stem from his being a leader, and the fact that he respects his national interests and the interests of all of us.
At the end of his speech at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, Putin stated: “The Algerian president has expressed his interest in what is happening in Ukraine, and has said publicly that he calls for peace and expressed his desire to mediate in this field.. Thank you very much for your willingness to support us and support the Russian efforts in a peaceful settlement. in Ukraine”.
The Russian President indicated that relations with Algeria are old and friendly, as the Russian people love the Algerian people.
And he continued by saying: “From 1954 to 1962, you fought them for independence and you lost a million and a half martyrs.. Even after you gained independence, and in the years 1963 and 1964, the French army conducted nuclear tests in the desert, and this is near Algeria, and its consequences are very dire.”
The Russian President stressed that his country has friendly relations with Algeria, African countries and Arab countries. These relationships are rooted in thousands of years. Putin described these relations as rooted, friendly and deep, stressing that the leaders of these countries are guided by their national interests above all.
