Qumra experts stress its role in the development of Qatari and Arab cinema – Al-Hiwar Algeria

The Qumra Film Forum experts team confirmed, during a breakfast session with media professionals, hosted by the Museum of Islamic Art in Doha, that the forum established a real cinematic environment in Qatar, by strengthening global cooperation and international experience with promising Arab talents, and was also able to contribute significantly to the creation of A great development for the Qatari film industry, over the course of 9 years.
In this context, Iraqi-British director Tala Hadid said, “There has been remarkable progress during these years, thanks to which the Doha Foundation has been able, through young directors and producers, to expand its list of cinematic works, to include feature films and series.”
She added, “We have new, talented filmmakers in Qumra who know very well how to tell their stories and embody them in cinema. It is not just technical or advisory training, but it also opens several windows with marketers, distributors, fund managers and sales officials, and this is what Qumra seeks to achieve with these young people.”
For her part, the Palestinian producer and director spoke about her experience as an expert at the Qumra Film Forum, and said in this regard, “The Doha Film Institute, through its experts, not only provides financial and technical support to young filmmakers, but also accompanies these creators step by step, embracing them socially and culturally and following them up. And help them to promote the cultures of their countries and export them to the world.
