PARIS: Several children were injured in a knife attack in the French Alpine town of Annecy, French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin said on Twitter on Thursday, adding that the attacker had been arrested.
A man armed with a knife attacked a group of kindergarten children who were playing near a lake in the city of Annecy in the French Alps, wounding six children, believed to be about three years old, and an adult, according to a security source told AFP.
For reference, the perpetrator of the attack was arrested at 9:45 a.m. He is a Syrian citizen with legal refugee status in France. A source in the police said that the perpetrator of the attack had precedents.
It is noteworthy that President Emmanuel Macron condemned the attack, which he described as “cowardly”.
