The Secretary-General of the National Office for Literacy and Adult Education, Hassan Soleimani, said today, Sunday, that Algeria is one of the few countries that witnessed a decrease in the illiteracy rate by 7.4 percent in 2022.
In statements coinciding with the revival of the Arab Day for the Eradication of Illiteracy, Soleimani indicated to Radio One, that illiteracy in Algeria is in a continuous decline thanks to the great efforts made by the state through the strategies and capabilities harnessed, as it recruited 12 thousand aids assigned to eradicate illiteracy, and all the structures of the Bureau were harnessed Literacy and adult education.
The Secretary-General added that the Bureau is currently working on developing literacy and providing students with competencies that allow for advancement and integration into professional life, revealing that there were 274 registrants as of last December 21.
