Sonelgaz.. Signing contracts for the completion of the project to connect the independent electrical network to the national electrical network – Al-Hiwar Algeria

Under the supervision of the Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, and accompanied by the President and General Manager of Sonelgaz, Mourad Ajal, the signing ceremony took place today, Tuesday, for the realization of the project to connect the Independent Electrical Grid (PIAT), Qutb Ain Salah, Adrar, Timimoun, to the National Electric Grid (RIN). . These are the contracts that were signed between Sonelgaz, represented by its subsidiary Sonelgaz – Electricity Transmission, and 12 national companies (public and private).

During the opening ceremony of the signing ceremony of the contracts, which took place at the headquarters of the General Directorate of Sonelgaz, and in the presence of the Secretary-General of the National Federation of Workers of the Electric and Gas Industries and a number of marching executives in Sonelgaz, the President and General Manager of Sonelgaz, Murad Ajal, stressed the importance of the aforementioned project, which he described as strategic, given its importance In supporting national development and strengthening Algeria’s position regionally in the field of electricity production and transmission. Where the project includes the completion of a double line for the transmission of electricity for very high pressure 400 kV Hassi R’mel- Timimoun (700 km) and the completion of three centers for very high pressure 220/400 kV in each of the states of Timimoun and Adrar. This is in addition to integrating the 60 kV voltage in each of Manea, Timimoun, Adrar and Ain Saleh through the establishment of several 60/220 kV centers and a 60 kV transmission network.

For his part, after listening to a detailed presentation on the project, Minister of Energy and Mines Mohamed Arkab stressed the importance of the project in supporting the national economy, praising Sonelgaz’s efforts in implementing it and confirming its ability to carry out such major projects with 100 percent Algerian hands.

Minister Mohamed Arkab explained that this project falls within the framework of implementing the recommendations of the country’s higher authorities with regard to the provision of energy across the entire national territory, as well as the implementation of the government’s plan in the field of energy.

In the context, the Minister of Energy and Mines praised the level of expertise and professionalism that Sonelgaz has become distinguished for in implementing the largest development projects, including the project to connect the independent grid to the national grid, which, according to him, requires high technical follow-up, given that it is a very important project on international standards.

Speaking about the importance of the project, the minister stressed that this achievement would enhance the supply of electrical energy and improve the quality and continuity of public service while integrating a huge amount of renewable energies in implementation of the energy transition program, in addition to meeting the energy needs of the south, especially for the industrial and agricultural sectors, as he indicated. Mr. Minister, the importance of the project in creating wealth and job positions, in addition to the advancement of the communication technologies and digitization sector.

In conclusion, Minister Mohamed Arkab affirmed his full support for Sonelgaz and all the companies contracting with it, stressing on the other hand the need to respect the delivery deadlines, due to its connection to the importance of the project on the one hand and the timetable that the Ministry of Energy adheres to.

For reference, during the signing ceremony of the contracts, a presentation was made on the Algeria-Africa energy bridge project, which is the project of the century for which Sonelgaz decided to launch studies regarding the completion of an electric line for the transmission of very high voltage electricity directly from Ghardaia Province to Tamanrasset, as this line connects Algeria with the gateway Africa is along 1,300 km of a very high voltage continuous electric current cable, as it is one of the most important lines in the world, which will witness the use of the latest technologies in the world.
