The Minister of Communication, Mohamed Bouslimani, confirmed today, Thursday, that the organic law related to the media is an “important addition to the national communication policy.”
Overseeing the launch of the sixth training session on institutional communication, the minister explained that “the organic law related to media, which was recently ratified by Parliament in its chamber, is an important addition to the national communication policy aimed at strengthening the rights of media professionals and drawing new horizons for the message of journalism in light of digitization and the accompanying slippages targeting our country seriously and systematically.”
And he added: “We are required to raise the level of awareness, vigilance and efficiency in this situation, especially through training, which we have been keen to diversify to include the field of electronic journalism, given the importance of this pivotal media in managing the various relationships of institutions and individuals.”
Bouslimani stressed that the state’s interest in the communication sector and the role of the press and media is achieved by taking care of several interrelated axes that are mainly concerned with developing the legal system, strengthening training and awareness-raising processes, and expanding the institutional edifice, especially through the establishment of several thematic public television stations.
Presentation of draft laws for audiovisual, written and electronic press soon
Bouslimani indicated that draft laws related to audiovisual and both the written and electronic press will be presented to Parliament “soon.”
In the same context, the minister highlighted the efforts of the country’s supreme authorities aimed at strengthening the press profession and the performance of the communication sector, especially through its modernization and the enactment of more effective laws.
And he reaffirmed that, in order to consecrate Algeria’s African depth, the “Africa FM” radio channel was launched, embodying the approach of the President of the Republic based on the need to make the continent’s unified and influential voice heard and to strengthen cooperation relations between its countries.
The Minister of Communication affirmed the keenness of the President of the Republic and his supportive and motivating position for a pluralistic and professional national media and for a free and responsible press that accompanies with awareness and integrity the achievements made in the new Algeria and keeps pace with the technological developments of information and communication.
In line with this trend – adds the minister – the President of the Republic initiated the “Media City” project, which is a project that would bring about positive changes in the quality of journalistic work and promote new media with a more effective and required organization.
The institutional communication course, which is hosted by the University of Ghardaïa over the course of Thursday and Friday, includes several axes on institutional communication that will be activated by university professors within academic interventions that will be followed by discussions, including “Institutional Communication .. Concepts and Implications”, “The Founding Elements of Institutional Communication” and “The Role of Journalism In promoting public policies,” and other topics, in addition to organizing practical workshops, according to the organizers.
It is noteworthy that this training session, organized by the Ministry of Communication in cooperation with the Ministries of Interior, Local Communities, Urban Planning, Higher Education and Scientific Research, introduces the participation of public media journalists and supervisors of communication cells in the states of Ghardaïa, El Oued, Biskra, Laghouat, Ouargla, Touggourt, El Manea, Djelfa, El Mughayer and Awlad Jalal.
The flash falls within the framework of activating the practical plan of the Ministry of Communication, embodying the government communication strategy, strengthening the local press, and developing neighborhood media.
