Starting to plant “sunflowers” starting from this March – El Hewar Algeria

The Secretary General of the Ministry of Agriculture and Development announced Rifiya, Hamid bin Saed, today, Sunday, in Algiers, that it will take place starting from a month This March, the launch of the “sunflower” cultivation program at the national level. Pointing out that the aim of the program is to reduce the import bill for this product and achieve Table oil self-sufficiency.

On the sidelines of his supervision of the inauguration of a study day on the cultivation and valuation of sunflowers in the capital, Ben Saed explained that “within the framework of supporting the cultivation of oily plants, starting from the current month of March, the cultivation of the sunflower plant will be launched,” noting that the process will take place until April next across the country.

In this context, the official explained that this process falls within the framework of embodying the “sunflower cultivation” program, which is monitored by the ministry, with the aim of reducing the import bill for this product and achieving self-sufficiency in table oil.

Ben Saed added that “all agricultural conditions and inputs have been created, with the identification of states, dealers and intervenors, and the recruitment of technicians to make this process a success, which will be launched in the next few days.”

Ben Saed stated that sunflower cultivation has “a promising future in Algeria, and it is possible to produce it twice a year,” noting that the experiments conducted in some states have proven a good yield for cultivating this oily plant in many states.

The official stressed that the ministry “will support all programs and projects specialized in cultivating oily plants with field escort and address all obstacles, in addition to harnessing all conditions and means for their success.”

With regard to the forum, organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, under the supervision of the Joint National Professional Council for the Grain Division, the Secretary-General of the Council, Abdelghani Ben Ali, stated that it “allows to learn about how to develop and revitalize sunflower cultivation in Algeria,” stressing that “peasants are fully prepared To engage in the national strategy to revive this agriculture with new and modern technologies to obtain a better yield.”

In this context, Ben Ali stressed that “Algeria has all the appropriate climatic conditions for the success of the cultivation of this oily plant, especially with the existence of previous and successful experience in this field.”
