Tehran: armed attack on the embassy of Azerbaijan – Al-Hiwar Al-Jazaery

Today, the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Algeria reported that an armed attack took place on the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Iran, as a result of which the head of the embassy’s security service was killed and two security officers were wounded.

In this regard, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan issued a statement saying, “We strongly condemn the treacherous terrorist attack on the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Islamic Republic of Iran,” and added, “As the country in which the embassy is located, the Iranian side had to fulfill its obligation to ensure the security and safety of the embassy and its personnel under Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations”.

And the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry confirmed, “There have been attempts to threaten our diplomatic mission in Iran before. Measures to prevent such situations and to ensure the safety of our diplomatic missions have been constantly raised by Iran,” and considered that the recent “bloody terrorist attack has the grave consequences of not showing proper sensitivity to our urgent appeals in this direction.”

The statement adds, “We see that the anti-Azerbaijani campaign against our country in Iran has encouraged such attacks against our diplomatic mission. We strongly demand that the perpetrators of the mentioned Iranian terrorist attack, as well as those who ordered this bloody act, be identified as soon as possible and punished harshly.” ways.”

The statement concluded, “The Azerbaijani side will use all opportunities provided by the relevant international mechanisms to ensure that the perpetrators are identified and receive appropriate punishment. Appropriate measures will be taken towards the evacuation of the embassy staff and their family members in the situation that occurred as a result of the terrorist attack.
