The “Agyam” complex achieves a growth in its turnover by 12 percent in 2022 – Al-Hiwar Al-Jazaeryia

The Algerian industrial complex for mechanical industries “Ajiam” achieved a turnover of 26.82 billion dinars during the past year 2022, an increase of 12 percent compared to 2021, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Industry on Tuesday.
And these results were presented during a meeting with the officials of the complex and the most prominent branches and institutions affiliated to it, chaired by the Minister of Industry Ahmed Zagdar, and this is within the framework of a series of evaluation meetings for public complexes affiliated with the industrial sector organized by the ministry with the aim of evaluating their performance, activities and level of efficiency during 2022.
According to the presentation presented during this meeting, it is expected that the turnover of the “Agyam” complex during the current year 2023 will reach 40 billion DZD.
And among the most prominent institutions affiliated with the complex, which achieved positive results and added value in 2022, the statement mentioned the National Corporation for the Production of Pumps and Valves “Bofal”, with an increase of 30 percent in turnover and 41 percent in added value, the National Corporation for Public Works Equipment “ONMT”. B, with an increase of 37 percent in turnover and 28 percent in value added, the National Corporation for Machinery and Tools “BMO”, with an increase of 12 percent in turnover and 26 percent in value added.
In addition, the General Establishment for Mechanical Industries and its accessories “Ursim” with an increase of 12 percent in turnover and 8 percent in added value, the National Corporation for the Production of Screws, Knives and Taps “BCR” with an increase of 10 percent in turnover and 12 percent in added value, as well as the Corporation National Company for Agricultural and Fishing Equipment “ONMAP”, with an increase of 5 percent in turnover and 14 percent in added value.
The meeting was also an opportunity to present the most prominent obstacles that prevented the achievement of a number of goals that were set by the complex for the year 2022, including what is related to global economic and geopolitical conditions and the difficulty of supplying some inputs in international markets, including what is related to the impact of some branches that suffer from Significant debt on the overall results of the complex.
Commenting on the presentation of the status of the complex, Zagdar stressed “the need to improve the results and performance of the complex more and more in the coming years, given the capabilities and great experience it possesses in the field of mechanical industries, as well as the opportunities offered by the Algerian market within the framework of the new strategy for the development of mechanical industries.”
The Minister gave directives to intensify efforts on a number of projects with a strategic dimension within the framework of implementing the instructions of the President of the Republic, especially those related to the production of agricultural and irrigation equipment, the production of pumps and valves directed to the hydrocarbon sector, and especially those directed to the water resources sector within the framework of the program for the completion of seawater desalination plants, which The branches of “Agyam” have great experience, and the development of the ship industry through the branch “Ekorab”.
Zaghdar also highlighted the importance of developing integration ratios for the various products of the complex and its branches in creating added value, and reducing the import bill for a number of industrial equipment and supplies.
In a related context, the minister referred to the need to improve the governance of the complex by including efficiency contracts in 2023, supporting boards of directors with competencies, establishing research and development laboratories, preparing training programs, setting up an effective information system, and accelerating the digitization process.
For reference, the complex employs approximately 6,700 employees, and includes in its portfolio 29 branches and institutions, of which six are mixed companies with foreign partners, active in the production and manufacture of gear and equipment for agriculture and fishing, public works machinery and equipment, industrial equipment and the manufacture of engines and industrial handling, according to the same statement.
