Members of the Central Authority for Criminal Investigations led by the National Gendarmerie, in coordination with the research platoon of the National Gendarmerie in Birmurad Rais, stopped an international network specialized in smuggling foreign goods and bringing them illegally into the territory of the Republic.
The National Gendarmerie Command stated, in a statement, that the operation, which falls within the framework of combating organized crime of all kinds, especially transnational crimes affecting the national economy, came “after receiving information to the Central Authority for Criminal Investigations led by the National Gendarmerie that there is a criminal network active at the level of the two municipalities of El Dar.” Al-Bayda and Rouiba in Algeria, specialized in smuggling foreign-made goods, represented by smart mobile phones and entering them across the eastern borders of the country, driven by a person of foreign nationality residing in Algeria.

The source pointed out that, “exploiting the information received and after intensifying the elements of the inquiry, the identity of the elements of the network and the places where smuggled goods were stored were identified, after which a tight security plan was developed that enabled the overthrow of the members of the network in a short time.”

As stated in the statement, this operation resulted in “the arrest of 4 persons involved, including two persons of foreign nationality, with the seizure of 25,000 smartphones, 800 Bluetooth headsets, 1,200 earphones, 350 smart watches, a GPS device, 3 tourist cars, and an amount of money.” money from the proceeds of crime.”

After completing the legal procedures, “the detainees were brought before the competent judicial authorities for committing a felony of smuggling foreign-made goods within an organized cross-border criminal group, a felony of possessing a warehouse within the customs zone intended for smuggling, a misdemeanor of not reporting a felony of smuggling, and a misdemeanor of possession of sensitive equipment.”
