Through his Diwan Poems: Banners Without Medals
The Arabic vertical poem is witnessing an unprecedented artistic and rhythmic development, as the poet Abdullah Al-Samati changed the usual classic structure of the Arabic poem, by changing its well-known prosody pattern to another new pattern, and he also expanded the space of the poetic verse to accommodate more modern and contemporary poetic sentences, with new stylistic structures that are not It is familiar in the vertical pattern, in a new artistic and aesthetic vision about which Abdullah Al-Samati says: It occurs for the first time in the history of Arab poetry since the era of Andalusian muwashshahat.
Abdullah Al-Samati says about this: “I have been working for many years to develop the vertical poem, since I was a student at the university, and I formed some new themes, but I saw that it is more appropriate now to develop the well-known themes that the general reader is associated with and the audience of poetry is associated with, so I did during the twenty Over the past years, I have renewed some themes and increased their activations, and renewed the methods of poetic sentences inside the house, to break the obsession of the lyrical and lyrical in the classic vertical poem. “The Southern Sky of Love” and then devoted an entire diwan to it, which includes (108) poems in the new vertical, flat shape. It is my diwan: “Banners without Medals.”
Al-Samati explains: I developed the poetic verse by increasing its activations with one, two, three or more activations, according to the poetic flow of the poem, with the abolition of the separation between the two parts of the verse. By adding four activations to the verse, the simple one becomes, for example: (musteflon, fa’il, mustafa’il, fa’lan, repeated three times) and so on, the long one, and also the light, and I explained all of this in the preface to my tenth collection: “Banners without Medals” issued in the year 2021.
And soon issued by the poet, the Eleventh Diwan F, entitled: “The Prophet of the Lovers.” The Diwan includes (32) a variety of poems between the new vertical poetry in the samti style in which he develops some poetic themes, and activative and prose poems. The Twelfth Diwan also issues a title: “Every Female.” My love, until proven otherwise.
The Eleventh Diwan begins with a poem entitled: “To Sidi Al-Harf”, including:
“My master and friend, O letter/ I will look a lot on your balconies/ I will shorten eternity in a thousand, and I see my time in your stares/ Lightning dips its feather in my blood, and the winds lead my tomorrow to your life/ You are my meaning… my presence/ Take me as pebbles in the sky of your prayers.”
Among the titles of the poems: I will go to see my mask, cosmic senses, the prophet of lovers, devoid of hope, I am the guest of my name, my country in the fingers, paradise of hell, I will be very happy, my little window is my beautiful world
The Diwan poems were written and published in a number of newspapers and magazines between 1991-2006, and they represent a diverse aesthetic stage within the poetic orientations of the poet who did not abandon the lyrical experience of the vertical poem, but he developed it, and the development of poetic seas to expand the spaces of the vertical poem and Arabic poetry.
