The "Elac Algeria" complex achieves an 11 percent increase in its turnover - Al-Hiwar Al-Jazairia

The General Assembly of Electrical, Home, Electronic and Telecommunications Equipment “ELAC Algeria” achieved a turnover of 21.64 billion DZD during 2022, an increase of 11 percent compared to 2021, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Industry on Wednesday.

And these results were presented during a meeting with officials of the complex and its affiliated branches, chaired by the Minister of Industry, Ahmed Zagdar, to evaluate the performance of the complex during the year 2022, adds the same source.

And according to the presentation made during this meeting, the compound also recorded a 4 percent increase in value added last year, according to the same source.

These results came “despite the financial and indebtedness difficulties recorded in a number of its branches and the global economic conditions that led to a significant rise in input prices in international markets,” according to the statement.

The complex, which includes 25 branches in its portfolio and employs more than 7,000 workers, is active mainly in the electronic industries, household appliances, cables, wire and wireless equipment, and some tools that enter the electrical industries.

Some of the complex’s branches, such as “ENI”, “Enyam”, “Alphatron”, “Sonarik”, “Velamp” and “Domelac”, produce products intended for the general public in terms of electronic and home appliances (TVs, computers, household electrical appliances). And lamps, etc.), while the other branches manufacture products that fall within the framework of handling the electrical industries, mechanical industries, telecommunications, as well as services for economic dealers.

The complex has also embarked on the embodiment of a number of partnership projects with several foreign companies in the fields of manufacturing electrical equipment, high-voltage transformers, manufacturing elevators, producing electrical insulators, producing energy stores and conversion units for solar stations.

During the meeting, the minister stressed the need to redouble efforts to improve the results of the complex, in which a number of its branches suffer from financial and indebted difficulties, in order to be able to restore its position in the local market after the decline in the activity of some branches in recent years.

In order to achieve this goal, the complex, Mr. Zagdar adds, must establish a strong policy and strategy based on keeping pace with the technological development and the large and rapid transformations that the markets for its products are experiencing, especially the electronic, electrical and household industries, to provide quality products that meet consumer tastes, competitive prices and the development of integration rates.

He added that this strategy should also include an effective marketing policy by expanding the distribution network and enhancing the positive mental image of the brands of the various products of the complex to the consumer (the broad public and economic dealers).

On the other hand, the minister gave instructions to expedite the revival of the activity of stalled institutions and units at the level of the complex and to restructure those that suffer from great difficulties, as well as to expedite the completion of investment projects as well as partnership projects, the statement adds.
