The first ministry decides to transfer ownership of the Mediterranean village to the Algerian state of Oran-El-Houar

Today, Sunday, the province of Oran announced that the Prime Minister, Ayman Ben Abdelrahman, officially decided, according to the outcomes of the meeting held on May 18, 2023, at the level of the first ministry to study the status of the Mediterranean village in Oran, to transfer the ownership of this huge sports facility in the Bir El Djir district, to the benefit of the province of Oran. With the provision of funds to cover the expenses associated with the management of this village.

According to what was stated in the state statement, the governor of Oran, Saïd Saoud, decided to set up a device to secure the Mediterranean village, which was carried out specifically to host “Bahia Oran” for the 19th edition of the Mediterranean Games, at the level of the new urban pole in Belkaid (Bir El Djir municipality) on an area estimated at 39 km. hectares.

The Prime Ministry also decided to start the procedures for establishing a local public economic institution under the tutelage of the governor to manage, maintain and exploit this important facility, as well as allocating the neighborhood called “Napoli” for the benefit of the Olympic complex, Miloud Hadafy, within the framework of establishing a center for the preparation of national teams.

This sports and tourist edifice is located 20 km from the international airport “Ahmed Ben Bella”, 10 km from the railway transport station, and 5.2 km from the new Olympic complex in Oran, which can accommodate up to 40 thousand seats.

It also includes three areas, and it is related to a residential area designated for athletes and their companions, and it contains rooms for residents, restaurants, training facilities, a health center and spaces for rest.

The Mediterranean Village contains 2,263 rooms with a capacity of 4,266 beds, 4 restaurants, and 55 medical offices designated for delegations, in addition to a multidisciplinary clinic established on the occasion of the previous games, which was equipped with a laboratory, radiology center, orthopedics, resuscitation, internal medicine department and all the specialties required for such events.
