The General Union of Algerian Workers commemorates the assassination of Abdelhak Ben Hamouda – Al-Hiwar Algeria

Today, Saturday, in Algiers, a vigil was organized for the soul of the former Secretary-General of the General Union of Algerian Workers, Abdelhak Ben Hammouda, on the 26th anniversary of his assassination at the hands of terrorism on January 28, 1997.

During the mercy stand, which was attended by the Secretary-General of Trade Union Centralism, Salim Labatsha, and representatives of trade union federations of various sectors, economic institutions and workers, a wreath of flowers was laid at the memorial of the deceased Ben Hammouda in Trade Union Centralism and the opening of the book was read on his pure soul.

By the way, Mr. Labatsheh assured in his speech that the federation “will not abandon its principles aimed at defending the rights of workers and fair trade union struggle, as well as defending the stability and security of the homeland.”

He also renewed the Union’s “steadfast and adherent positions to the message and principles of the martyrs of the liberation revolution, such as the martyr Essat Idir and his companions who struggled to defeat the occupation, achieve independence and also defend the working class against you.”

Mr. Labatsheh called on all “union trade unionists to also show the sacrifices of the great trade unionist and symbol Abdel Haq bin Hamouda, who was touched by the hands of treachery on January 28, 1997,” noting that this trade union activist “never hesitated in defending the country and its stability and protecting the rights of workers to improve their social and professional conditions.” Despite the difficult circumstances that Algeria faced at that time.

The same official affirmed that the General Union of Algerian Workers “is continuing its struggle with steady steps on a correct path to preserve the rights of workers, the stability of state institutions, the dedication of the social dimension and social justice, and also the contribution to achieving the bet of economic development and addressing all the challenges that Algeria is currently facing.”
