Today, Tuesday, the Prime Minister, Ayman bin Abdul Rahman, chaired a government meeting, during which members of the government discussed several points related to the sectors of justice, religious affairs, agriculture, industry, and the project to complete a new headquarters for Parliament, according to a statement by the Prime Ministry.
In the justice sector, the government studied a preliminary draft law amending and supplementing Ordinance No. 66-156 of June 8, 1966, containing the Penal Code. It was submitted by the Minister of Justice, Keeper of the Seals.
This draft text aims to enhance the protection of society and some vulnerable groups, improve the performance of the public utility of the judiciary, reduce pressure on the Criminal Court by delinquent some offenses and toughen the penalties for others. It also aims to protect and accompany managers and investors, in particular by decriminalizing the act of management and criminalizing obstruction of the act of investment.
In the field of religious affairs, the government listened to a presentation by the Minister of Religious Affairs and Endowments on the results of the mission of the multisectoral delegation that was dispatched to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in order to study service offers and conclude contracts related to organizing the Hajj season 1444 AH – 2023 AD.
It is worth noting that this endeavor falls within the framework of the directives of the President of the Republic aimed at providing the best accommodation conditions for our pilgrims and ensuring full sponsorship for them in the holy sites on the occasion of the Hajj season.
In this regard, the multisectoral delegation, during its visit, studied and examined 218 offers of hotels and companies, regarding sponsorship by the National Office for Hajj and Umrah, as well as private travel agencies, which allowed the selection of 135 hotels, 40 catering companies and 5 companies for transporting pilgrims and luggage.
In the field of agriculture, the government listened to a joint evaluation presentation by the Minister of Industry, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, and the Minister of Trade and Export Promotion, regarding the project of building grain storage units.
It should be noted that the evaluation of this process aims to provide a map of the national capacities for grain storage in a way that guarantees its optimal use and allows verifying the results achieved in the field of enhancing the foundations of food security for this widely consumed product.
In the field of industry, the Minister of Industry gave a presentation on the national strategy to upgrade the national metrology infrastructure.
In this context, the strategic importance of developing and strengthening the national metrology infrastructure was highlighted, which primarily aims to protect the national economy when carrying out commercial exchanges with various countries, as well as ensuring that local or imported products conform to the standards and standards adopted in this field.
Finally, with regard to the completion of the new headquarters for Parliament, the Minister of Housing, Urbanism and the City gave a presentation on the project to complete the new headquarters for Parliament with its two chambers (the National Assembly and the National People’s Assembly), which currently occupy old and narrow buildings at the level of the capital.
