The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Ministry of Industry signed fifteen framework agreements between the two economic public institutions “Feruvial” and “Sital” on the one hand, and scientific research centers and the General Directorate of Scientific Research and Technological Development on the one hand.
According to the Minister of Higher Education and the Minister of Industry, the agreement came in implementation of the decisions of the President of the Republic and the directives of the Prime Minister. Scientific as the only guarantor of technological development and valuing the results of research and innovation, as well as the formation of the human element, which is the pillar of all development.
In the same context, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Kamal Badari, confirmed that the decision to sign partnership agreements between five research centers and a university studies office with companies affiliated with the Ministry of Industry is in accordance with the outputs of the Council of Ministers on January 16.
The minister explained that the signing of a partnership agreement between research bodies and national companies for a strategic rapprochement between the bodies with the aim of developing a program for the container industry from design to launching manufacturing.
It will enable five research centers and a study office to carry out creative activities, to reach the development of manufacturing containers equipped with electronic devices, and to create an integrated knowledge system that motivates researchers, those in charge of research, and the two economic public institutions in innovation and joint development for a national integrated industry in the field of railways and related transport equipment. As well as manufacturing containers of high quality and conforming to the required standards and standards;
For his part, the Minister of Industry, Ahmed Zagdar, stressed that the appreciation of the results of scientific research in the field of manufacturing and developing railways and related transport equipment to meet the needs of the transport sector in the completion of projects to develop and expand the railway network in all regions of the country from north to south, which will inevitably contribute to strengthening mobility. The commercial and economic activities of the homeland, and accompanying the laboratories and scientific research centers to the industrial path of the local production of 20-foot and 40-foot containers, due to their scarcity in the global markets at the present time and the exacerbation of the phenomenon of renting them and the high costs associated with them, especially delay fines. As the local manufacturing of containers will save approximately $100 million annually from these costs, which record a significant and continuous increase in prices over the past two years.
Zaghdar said, “The conclusion of such agreements reflects the keenness of the Ministries of Industry, Higher Education and Scientific Research to continue fruitful cooperation and coordination between them to develop long-term development projects that benefit the national economy through optimal utilization of the capabilities of the industrial and academic sectors, and would also support the activities of centers.” Research and technological development, encouraging applied research to transform it into goods and services to create new job opportunities, and linking academic aspects with practical reality to diversify local industries and strengthen competitive capabilities.
Zaghdar called on public economic institutions to join efforts to form joint teams and create a participatory environment with the higher education and scientific research sector, through the localization of incubators, the conversion of ideas into projects and the increase of local added value.
