The National Council for Human Rights appreciates the efforts of the Algerian state in taking care of people with autism – the Algerian dialogue

Today, Saturday, the National Council for Human Rights praised the state’s efforts to take care of people with autism and integrate them into their social environment, within the framework of the policy that aims to take care of vulnerable social groups that require special care.
In a statement issued on the eve of the celebration of the International Day for Awareness Awareness on the Autism Spectrum, corresponding to April 2, the Council appreciated “the efforts made to smoothly integrate those affected with it into their social environment, within the general framework of the state’s policy that aims to provide for vulnerable social groups that require special care,” calling for “More targeted efforts, especially the early prevention of autism spectrum disorder, and taking care of the problems it poses, through systematic work.”
In this regard, the Council affirmed the involvement of all sectors concerned with the issue of caring for people with autism spectrum and the establishment of an effective and permanent coordination mechanism between the various actors in this field in order to spread awareness and diagnose according to national ground rules that unite the various stages of diagnosis, while following up the path of the person with autism spectrum, which It allows early detection and the necessary work to be done by integrating it into society.
He also highlighted the importance of “developing a national card for this category, which allows for a scientific and accurate distribution of specialists in the field of child psychiatry, geographically and according to accurate scientific data,” with the necessity of “taking care of the injured person from the initial diagnosis during childhood and maintaining his medical file throughout his life to follow him up and check his progress.” achieved in his treatment and the difficulties in his neurological development.
The Council called for “developing a national training program adapted to recent scientific developments, for the benefit of all those involved in the field of autism and in coordination with the concerned sectors and the various stakeholders themselves. In the field, work with all available capabilities to accompany the parents of the injured, especially in order to implement the correct methods of sponsorship, in order to integrate them, in turn, within the early prevention departments and treatment programs, and by scientific methods.

He renewed his call to work on “finding a comprehensive legal framework to conform Law 09/2 of May 08, 2002 related to the protection and promotion of persons with disabilities with the International Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities..and to adapt its provisions to the latest medical and scientific developments and discoveries.”

The Council said that it commemorates the International Autism Spectrum Awareness Day by reminding that this “disability is not considered in the eyes of specialists in this field as a disease, insofar as its manifestations are described as nothing more than a neurodevelopmental disorder, resulting in a variety of abnormal behaviors in humans.”
