The National Gendarmerie has confirmed that what was circulated on social networks regarding the form of vehicle registration numbers, which does not include the state of registration (the state number), is unfounded with what was stated in the Official Gazette No. 03 issued on January 17, 2023.
A statement by the Information and Traffic Coordination Center of the National Gendarmerie stated, today, Sunday, that the matter is related to the issuance of a decision amending the decision dated May 05, 1988, which defines the applicable administrative rules, the registration number of self-propelled vehicles. The source added that the amendment is mainly related to vehicles that do not know the year of their first placement in the road and bear the diagram 22 or 33, as their owners are required to subject them to conformity control with the regionally competent mines departments in order to determine the year of their first placement in the road.
The National Gendarmerie alerted the owners of vehicles bearing cards and plates numbered in Figures 22 or 33 to take the necessary measures and replace them with ones that include the year of first placement in traffic before December 31, 2023.
