The National Observatory for Civil Society denounces the European Parliament’s regulation on Algeria – the Algerian dialogue

Today, Friday, the National Observatory for Civil Society issued a statement of denunciation and denunciation of the European Union Parliament’s regulation.
And the statement stated: The office of the National Observatory of Civil Society, the society headed by Noureddine Ben Brahm, on May 12, 2023; On behalf of the members of the observatory from civil society activities in Algeria; And after reading the content of the European Parliament’s regulation on freedom of expression and the press in Algeria.
In the midst of the celebration of the International Day for Freedom of Expression and the Press, which Algeria revived this year, with a comprehensive and comprehensive approach to all media professionals and journalists, regardless of the diversity of their opinions and ideas, and at a time when Algeria continues to reap the fruits of the blessed people’s movement, starting with the 2020 constitution, starting from completing the institutional building and consolidating the democratic path, leading to The ambitious economic and social renaissance program, which was crowned with positive indicators and recognition by several credible international bodies, the Observatory was surprised by the position of the European Parliament on May 11, 2023 through a list distorted by misleading and fallacies, and overlaid with selected indicators whose structure and timing of their employment is no longer hidden from anyone.
The dynamism and course of the reforms that Algeria embarked upon translates the sincere political will to perpetuate individual and collective freedoms, especially the media, as stipulated in Article 54 of the 2020 Constitution, by guaranteeing freedom of the written, audiovisual, and even electronic press, which is considered a basic guarantee for the right to expression and opinion in A free, independent, effective and responsible media environment, consistent with the principle of citizen’s right to access information.
The National Observatory for Civil Society denounces and strongly condemns the blatant interference of the European Parliament in the internal affairs of our country, and expresses its absolute rejection of everything in its list, which once again carried false claims wrapped around concern for human rights and freedom of expression, while it is another fallacy that reflects an implicit desire to undermine the image of Algeria, which has engaged in a reformist dynamic based on promoting the values of citizenship, devoting the principles of governance and promoting human rights.
It would have been more useful for the European Parliament, which calls for respect for human rights and calls for freedom of expression, to avoid double standards in dealing with just issues. Where is the position of this parliament on the suffering of the Palestinian people, and where is its position on the right of the Sahrawi people to self-determination??
The values that Algerian civil society activities believe in, and which are based on freedom and mutual respect between peoples, prompt us to call on all honest people and civil society activists in Algeria and around the world to engage in joint action to correct these programmed fallacies that fall within typical agendas that have not yet got rid of the domination complex. Rather, it is still working to widen the gap between the peoples and countries of the North and the South.
Finally, the observatory calls on civil society activists in Algeria to stand together in order to have high awareness and civic sense in order to confront such attempts to harm Algeria’s image.
