The National People’s Assembly approves the draft law related to forests and forest resources – Al-Hiwar Al-Jazaeryia

Today, Saturday, deputies of the National People’s Assembly unanimously approved the draft law related to forests and forest resources, during a public session chaired by Ibrahim Boghali, Speaker of the Assembly, in the presence of members of the government and Minister of Relations with Parliament, Basma Azwar.
After the voting session, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Abdel Hafeez Hani confirmed that this law came to keep pace with the economic, climatic and social changes that characterized the country, and it constitutes a positive addition to citizens.
He mentioned “the extreme importance of the text of the law because it presents a new view regarding the policy of economic openness to evaluate the development programs of the sector,” explaining that the sector took into account the various proposals, concerns, questions and interventions that came within the framework of discussing this draft law.
The text of the law aims to revitalize the legislative system for the management of the country’s forest property, in anticipation of a better valuation of forest resources at the economic, social and environmental levels.
Its provisions stipulate a review of the management of forest property in line with Algeria’s obligations in the field of protecting environmental diversity, adapting to climatic changes, combating desertification, and economic management of the forest heritage, which is based on the renewal of its productivity and framing tools, while protecting and preserving the national forest potential and expanding the forest cover.
