Fitus Belkahel, President of the Parliamentary Group of Friendship “Algeria-Cuba”, today, Tuesday, held talks, by videoconference, with his Cuban counterpart Magda Eliana Perez Matos, Chair of the Parliamentary Group of Friendship “Cuba – Algeria” and Chair of the Industry, Construction and Energy Committee of the National Assembly of Cuban People’s Power. During this meeting, Fitus Belkahel reviewed the reality and prospects of the deep-rooted historical bilateral relations between the two countries and expressed his satisfaction with the consensus of visions between them regarding the various issues raised. He mentioned, by the way, the importance that Ibrahim Bogali, President of the National People’s Assembly attaches to parliamentary diplomacy, especially with regard to activating the Friendship Groups mechanism.
In terms of international relations, Fitus affirmed Algeria’s permanent commitment to work in harmony with international legitimacy and in accordance with United Nations resolutions, as it is consistent with the principles of its foreign policy based on non-interference in the internal affairs of states and the pursuit of dialogue and peaceful solutions to resolve disputes and support the peoples struggling for their independence and the right to self-determination. destiny.
On the other hand, the head of the Friendship Group with Cuba praised what the Cuban medical staff is doing in several states in Algeria, especially in the Sahrawi refugee camps, which, he said, reflects the human dimension in the relations between Algeria and Cuba, which share noble values related to freedom and peace.
As for cooperation, Fitus commended the economic potential available in Algeria and its openness to Cuban economic dealers and investors and called for benefiting from it for the benefit of the two friendly countries according to the “win-win” principle, especially in light of the policy of economic reforms initiated by the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdul Majeed Tebboune.
For her part, Ms. Matos expressed her satisfaction with the efforts made to promote bilateral cooperation, as she called for strengthening relations between the two legislative bodies, especially by activating the role of the two parliamentary groups of friendship. She also urged the need to diversify cooperation to include other fields, praising, in this context, what Algeria has achieved a development that enabled it to access promising economic prospects.
The head of the Cuban-Algerian Friendship Group continued her speech, appreciating the role played by Algeria at the continental and international levels, especially by supporting peaceful solutions in dealing with crises.
