The Prime Minister supervises the ceremony celebrating Algeria’s election as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council – Al-Hiwar Al-Jazairiah

The Prime Minister, Mr. Ayman Ben Abderrahmane, presided, Monday in Algiers, the ceremony for the election of Algeria as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, under the high patronage of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune.

The celebration ceremony takes place at the International Conference Center in the presence of senior state officials and advisors to the President of the Republic, as well as the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad, Mr. Ahmed Ataf, members of the government and representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited to Algeria.

It is noteworthy that Algeria was elected last Tuesday in New York by the United Nations General Assembly to non-permanent membership in the UN Security Council, during the period 2024-2025.

Algeria will start its term on January 1, 2024, until December 31, 2025, and this is the fourth time that Algeria has won a non-permanent seat in the Security Council in its history, after the mandates of 1968-1969, 1988-1989 and 2004-2005.
