The program of the regional sessions of the archaeological map – the Algerian dialogue

Starting today, the Ministry of Culture and Arts launched, through the National Center for Research in Archeology, the “Regional Sessions for the Archaeological Map” within the framework of the planned program to revive the month of heritage (April 18-May 18).

The sessions, which are considered one of the priorities of the scientific research supervised by the sector, as these sessions will contribute to reviving and updating the Algerian archaeological atlas that has not been updated since independence.

This new update is mainly related to the representation of all material evidence of the national cultural heritage in a scientific and specific way in the form of a modern archaeological map through archaeological surveys or archaeological excavations, as through this project it is possible to view all the data collected during surveys and excavations, and it will also allow for updating Periodic and regular data.

These sessions started today, Wednesday, April 26, from the wilaya of Medea and included the wilayas of the center of the country (11 wilayas), in the presence of the directors of culture, researchers from the National Center for Research in Archaeology, researchers from the National Center for Research in Prehistory, Anthropology and History, where During this meeting, the plan for the completion of the completed archaeological map will be presented with an explanation of its objectives as well as the expected results, with an explanation of the most important techniques and scientific methods used in its completion.

It is worth noting that the same sessions will be held in the wilaya of Biskra on May 03 and will be dedicated to the states of eastern Algeria, while the wilaya of Ouargla will host on May 10 the sessions of the states of the south of Algeria, and the wilaya of Tlemcen on May 15 the sessions of the states of western Algeria, to culminate in the organization of a national forum on the “national map.” Archaeological Museum” at the Mufdi Zakaria Palace of Culture, on the 18th of May, on the occasion of the closing of the curtain on the month of heritage.
