The Union of Sahrawi Journalists and Writers condemned the new attack on the media correspondent of the national radio and television from El-Ayoun during the first days of the blessed month of Ramadan, stressing that the repetition of scenes of violence against Sahrawi activists and media professionals shows the seriousness of the disturbing human rights situation in the occupied Sahrawi territories.
The good Sahrawi journalist Boutankiza, in a testimony to the Union, confirmed that, at around 15:30 Thursday afternoon, she was beaten, abused, insulted and insulted by members of the Moroccan occupation authorities.
Boutankiza added that the so-called Pasha of the occupation in the occupied city of El-Ayyun, and the so-called commander of the seventh district, named Abdullah al-Sadiq, beat her, accompanied by members of the Makhazaniyya, on the first day of the holy month of Ramadan, who were roaming Eskikima Street in the occupied capital, El-Ayoun.
In her testimony, the journalist said, “As soon as they saw me on the street where I live, they called me a separatist. I would then respond by chanting patriotic slogans, including long live the Polisario.”
This happened amid the solidarity of some Sahrawi passers-by, who rejected what al-Salha was subjected to, protesting against the description of the occupation tools of the Sahrawi media woman, stressing that she is not separatist, but rather she is a desert and this is her homeland.
And while the Federation renews its strong condemnation of the Moroccan occupation’s targeting of journalists and freedom of the press in particular, and of the legitimate and legally guaranteed rights of the Sahrawi people, it calls on all international organizations and specialized bodies to follow up and report on the human rights situation in the occupied Western Sahara and work to protect Sahrawi media professionals and activists and open the region to international observers and missions Media to see what is going on closely.
The Union unfortunately records this attack, which is the second in less than a month that the journalist, the national radio and television correspondent, Saliha Boutangiza, is subjected to, following the harassment she and the well-known activist Abdullah suffered at the entrance to the occupied capital, after their return from a reception for the released Sahrawi political detainee, Yahya Muhammad al-Hafiz.
