The non-permanent membership in the UN Security Council, which Algeria seized, makes it a “pen holder,” meaning that it enjoys what a permanent member of the Security Council enjoys, with the exception of the right of veto. Algeria’s status and reputation diplomatically is not subject to questioning, even by countries that may have diplomatic differences with Algeria, similar to Spain, which voted to support Algeria in the Security Council in the elections for non-permanent membership. UN Security Council.
