On Friday, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), at its headquarters in the French capital, Paris, celebrated the International Arabic Language Day, corresponding to December 18 of each year, on an annual date to highlight the legacy of the Arabic language and its contribution to human civilization.
The celebration, which came under the title of the contribution of the Arabic language to human civilization and culture, highlighted the power of a language that brings together more than 450 million speakers on the five continents, and the many contributions of this language to human civilization and culture, as well as its contribution to the production of knowledge.
On this occasion, UNESCO organized a series of panel discussions and cultural events, where academics, researchers, experts and youth gathered to discuss several topics, especially “cultural diversity”, “the experience of the Arabic language and its interaction with other languages”, “common human values”, and “Possibilities offered by digital technologies and modern means of communication,” and “Imagining social cohesion and inclusion through multilingualism.”
