The United Nations Children’s Fund, represented by the UNICEF office in Algeria, appreciated the importance of the state’s social activity in order to protect all segments of society, especially children and adolescents.
On January 28, 2023, the organized field visit concluded in Oran within the framework of the “analysis of national social protection programs related to the rights of children and adolescents” carried out by The National Economic, Social and Environmental Council The National Economic, Social and Environmental Council with the support of UNICEF Algeria office. Several discussions were held with the technical directorates of the state of Oran, associations active in the field of child protection and beneficiaries of state social benefits. Various intervention and coordination mechanisms between actors at the local level in the field of social protection were also presented, as well as several proposals to strengthen the measures taken.
The visit made by the delegation, consisting of the Ministry of the Interior, Local Communities and Urban Planning, the Economic, Social and Environmental Council, the Ministry of Solidarity, Family and Women’s Issues, the Agency for Social Development, UNICEF and experts, from January 22 to 28, 2023, highlighted.
