On the eve of the celebration of the International Day of Freedom of Expression, the President of the National Council for Human Rights, Abdul Majeed Zaalani, focused on the stake represented in ensuring a balance between freedom and responsibility in journalistic work, stressing the importance of training to promote rights and freedoms.

Zaalani said today, Tuesday, during an interactive training workshop on “media and human rights” in the capital, that ensuring a balance between freedom and responsibility is a guarantee of guaranteeing rights and freedoms in which freedom of expression forms the basis of all human rights, adding that the emergence of digital technologies and the free flow of information via the Internet prompts good thinking about Focusing on freedom of expression as an engine and an enabling factor for the enjoyment of all human rights. The spokesman indicated that Algeria has taken measures to confront the phenomenon of the spread of misleading information via the Internet, as the turbulent situation requires the authorities to take the necessary measures to maintain public order and the security and safety of people, and concluded by stressing the need to Create a beneficial balance between freedom of expression and responsibility. He considered that the journalist should confront what he called the intended lies that international reports deal with in order to harm the reputation of countries, even though they are just reports and not laws in which the influence is based on the weight of the authority that issued the report, which is often the aim of pressure.

For his part, the media professor, Muhammad Yaqoubi, the general director of the Dialogue Center, stressed “the need to speed up riding the digitization train so that we do not feel isolated” and that “paper newspapers adapt themselves to the digital development to ensure life for themselves,” pointing to the need in the future for a comprehensive journalist that combines competence and skills, and at the rank of editor-in-chief to keep pace with the digital development. According to him, the legal system is required to put an end to the abuses related to the violation of private life and personal data.
