Zitouni explained, today, Monday, when he was hosted in the Forum Radio One: “With regard to the plan to supply the market, especially in the month of Ramadan, the ministry relies on the partnership approach between merchants and economic dealers, and many improvements have been made to the work plan.” He added in the same context: “We started In improving the national strategy, in order to provide all basic materials, the fluctuation in supply experienced by some regions was due to our lack of precise control over the distribution network, and we are seeking today to complete an action plan with all partners and ministries to control more in this process.

We produce three times as much oil as we consume, and the neighborhood markets will continue to do so

The Minister of Trade and Export Promotion spoke about table oil, explaining: “We used to consume 1,600 tons of oil per day, and because of the increase in demand, the quantity was raised to 4,600 tons. In a previous period, there were no accurate and correct figures, and after meetings with the producers, we reviewed the production capabilities, which reach Today, it has reached 4,600 tons, or 3 times the citizen’s needs.”

Zitouni linked the possibility of the continuation of neighboring markets throughout the year, to the extent of their ability to break prices and create a balance between supply and demand, as he said: “Algeria possesses many private and public markets, and there is a program to open 550 commercial markets, so far more than 400 of them are in many municipalities. And he added in the same context: “If we find that the markets will break prices and put an end to speculation, why don’t we go to provide them throughout the year? There is an increasing demand for certain basic materials such as oil, and we pump additional quantities daily, which cannot be distributed.” If there are no neighborhood markets. And the speaker highlighted that: “Neighborhood markets are seasonal markets to break monopoly and control prices. We need modern markets to absorb the mass of illegal trade in the markets, and if circumstances require, these markets will continue throughout the year.”

Importing 20,000 tons of fresh meat to break prices

And the Minister of Trade and Export Promotion considered that: “The Algerian state had to pump additional quantities of meat into the markets to break the monopoly and prices. The Algerian markets have 50 thousand tons of red meat, in addition to 10 thousand calves and import 20 thousand tons of fresh meat to break the monopoly.” And the prices are very high.” As for selling meat at a ceiling price of up to 1200 DZD, the Minister of Trade stated: “This material reaches many parts of the country, not all of them. The Ministry is working to ensure that this material is distributed in the largest number of regions of the country, so that it is within the reach of citizens.

Speaking of wholesale markets, the Minister of Trade stated: “There are many markets in Algeria. The Magro company has large markets, but this is not enough. Today, we need large, modern spaces that are floors for distributing materials on a regular basis, and there is an action plan for framing distribution networks so that we have a comprehensive view to break speculation.

Minister Zeitouni considers that the security solution to combat speculation is not sufficient alone and does not lead to the desired goals, calling for deterrent measures to be added to a comprehensive economic approach to regulate the market.

African markets are our target

Zitouni touched on Algeria’s strategy to enter African markets, explaining: “Our true dimension is African depth and our African trade extension. This principle and our trade in Africa must not be overlooked. Algeria has a role in financing investment projects in Africa and we are present as an important and powerful diplomatic and political body in Africa.” Therefore, this dimension enables us to achieve gains and priorities in strengthening this trend.”

And he added in the same context: “Our trade is limited in view of our African dimension. More effort must be made through economic demonstrations with various African countries with which we have partnerships, and we are moving towards these choices by organizing exhibitions in the future.”

Unfortunately, there are some obstacles that stand in the way of joint Arab action, especially in integration. In building a balanced, integrated, and cooperative Arab economic space, it is true that there are some exchanges. It is the beginning of the road that will take its true shape after signing bilateral agreements, and after removing all barriers from the path of these exchanges.

Regarding the prices of clothes during the holiday, and finding solutions to reduce the burden on the pocket of the citizen, Zeitouni indicated that: “Prices are not the prerogative of the Ministry of Commerce.
