Zwelivel Mandela: It is an honor for the Mandela family to be here in Algeria – Al-Hiwar Al-Jazaeryia

The President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, received Thursday in Algiers Zwelivel Mandela, the grandson of the late South African leader Nelson Mandela.

After the reception, Zoelifel Mandela said that he was “very happy” to participate in the inauguration of the Baraki stadium, which bore the name of Nelson Mandela, who “considered Algeria as his second country.”

“This is a tribute not only to South Africa, but also to all of Africa, for naming this sports facility after the late Mandela,” he said. It is an honor for the Mandela family to be here in Algeria. We will continue our struggle for African causes, especially the cause of the people of Western Sahara, the last colony in Africa.

And the grandson of the late Mandela added, “We must unite our efforts in order for the Saharawi people to obtain their independence and regain their sovereignty. I spoke with the President of the Republic to strengthen bilateral relations with South Africa within the framework of the African Parliament, the African Union and the United Nations in order to continue the work begun by the late Mandela.

Nelson Mandela’s grandson said, “President Mandela not only received military training in Algeria, but in doing so redefined the course of our struggle against apartheid, changing the tactics of armed struggle, and ultimately helping us achieve victory over apartheid in 1994.”
He added: We salute the leaders and people of Algeria and thank them for their contribution to our freedom and their continued solidarity on issues of strategic importance, particularly support for the Palestinian struggle and the right to self-determination for the Sahrawi people.

Zouillifil also expressed his wishes for Algeria to succeed in organizing the African Championship for local players (CHAN-2022), which will start this evening, Friday, with the opening match between the Algerian national team and its Libyan counterpart at 20:00 at the Nelson Mandela stadium in Baraki (Algiers).
