The statement continued, “Within the framework of the fight against terrorism and thanks to the exploitation of information, the security services of the Ministry of National Defense in Tamanrasset, in the 6th Military Region, were able to arrest the terrorist named “Lensari Suleiman,” who had been active among terrorist groups in the Sahel region since 2014.
In the same context, a detachment of People’s National Army seized (01) FMPK machine gun, (01) Kalashnikov machine gun and a quantity of ammunition during a reconnaissance patrol in Adrar, while (02) elements of support for terrorist groups were arrested during two separate operations.
The statement indicated that the army detachments, joint detachments of the People’s National Army, in coordination with the various security services, stopped (56) drug dealers, in coordination with the various security services, and thwarted attempts to bring in (08) quintals and (49) kilograms of treated kif across the border with Morocco. A quintal of tobacco, and this was done during separate operations across the national territory. Border guards, in coordination with the National Gendarmerie and Customs, thwarted attempts to smuggle quantities of fuel estimated at (16,258) liters in Tamanrasset, Bordj Badji Mokhtar, Tebessa, Souk Ahras, and El Tarf.
On the other hand, coast guards thwarted illegal immigration attempts on our national coasts and rescued (221) people who were aboard traditionally made boats, while (376) illegal immigrants of different nationalities were arrested across the national territory.
