Today, Monday, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research announced the launch of a digital platform for distance learning English for about 30,000 university professors.
The Minister of Higher Education stated that Algeria is the first country in Africa to enable university professors to accompany them in the field of learning English. And in cooperation with the American University “MIT” for technologies. University professors will obtain a B2 or C1 level according to international standards.
In the same context, Badari revealed, on the sidelines of the launch of the digital platform, that teaching in English in Friday sessions will start from the first semester of the academic year 2023-2024.
It is noteworthy that the Ministry had previously called for a census of the professors that the sector intends to train in the English language. With the end of the current university season 2022/23.
The census of professors came within the framework of strengthening the status of the English language in education and training in higher education institutions. And follow-up to evaluate the effort to train professors in the English language.
The Ministry also urged the heads of regional seminars for universities to contact the directors of higher education institutions.

This endeavor is part of the formation of at least 80 percent of science and technology teachers. And a 100 percent formation rate for professors of social sciences and humanities. and medical sciences who study horizontal units.
