The leather and textile industry branch in Algeria is witnessing great developments, starting from 2021, after the instructions of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to convene a national symposium to reorganize and consider the various industrial branches to enable the industrial sector to participate in the gross domestic product.
Araba Al-Akhdar, representative of the Ministry of Industry, said during a symposium on: The future of the leather and textile industry in Algeria, the Dialogue Forum, that 4 national committees for primary industries have been set up to revive the food, mechanical, electronic, textile and leather industries, to raise the contribution of these sectors to raising the gross domestic product.
Araba added that these sectors have witnessed a significant decline during the past years, and a national committee was established last June related to textile and leather, consisting of several ministries.
The textile and leather sectors are considered the first two sectors in Algeria to absorb unemployment, where the problems and obstacles were identified, and after that national sessions were held for the transformative industries of textile and leather, and work to establish the technologies of industrial institutions for the textile and leather division.
